Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre
June 12-15, 2023
Brisbane, Australia

On behalf of the President, Local Organizing Committee and Program Committee of the International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism (ISCBFM), we wish you a warm welcome to Brain & BrainPET 2023, the 31st International Symposium on Cerebral Blood Flow, Metabolism and Function – in conjunction with the 16th International Conference on Quantification of Brain Function with PET – to be held in Brisbane, Australia from 12th – 15th June 2023.

Following the tradition of previous biannual meetings, Brain & BrainPET 2023 will cover a broad swathe of neuroscience research, with a particular focus on brain function, metabolism, and cerebral blood flow, including the function of the neurovascular unit, the blood-brain barrier, brain imaging, brain repair, and cerebrovascular pathology. Our goal is to provide  state-of-the-art educational experiences, and present the latest discoveries, within each of these fields at the conference.

The Brisbane area is called Meanjin by the First Nations Turrbal people, which means “place shaped like a spike” to describe the “spike” of land where the Brisbane City is now located, by the Brisbane River.

Brisbane is undoubtedly one of Australia’s drawcard destinations – a green city with an enviable subtropical climate and even a beach in the middle of the city! Brisbane has over 300 days of sunshine a year, the winter is dry and the temperature rarely drops below 20C!  Brisbane has a diverse and growing population, a relaxed atmosphere and is investing in new infrastructure as it builds towards hosting the Olympics in 2032. The city is bursting with cultural attractions, parks and gardens, entertainment and fantastic restaurants. Southeast Queensland also includes the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast regions (both approximately one hour’s drive from the CBD), offering pristine beaches, breathtaking bush walks and exhilarating theme parks.  Brisbane and the surrounding area have some of the best views, natural experiences and wildlife that Australia has to offer. Brisbane will provide the delegates and their families with a wealth of opportunities for discoveries and adventure, at the conference and beyond.

A stimulating program combined with a wonderful location, will hopefully make this conference an exciting and memorable event. We very much look forward to your participation in BRAIN & BRAIN PET 2023 and to welcoming you to Brisbane, Australia.

Yours Sincerely,

Joseph C. LaManna, ISCBFM President
Renée Turner and Michael O’Sullivan, Co-Chairs, Local Organizing Committee
Christin Sander and Simon Cervenka, Co-chairs, Brain PET 2022
Xiaoming Hu and Andrew Clarkson, Co-Chairs, Program Committee
